AdSense and AdWords

What is Google AdWords?

AdWords is Google’s pay-per-click advertising program. Pay-per-click means that every time someone clicks on an advertiser’s ad, the advertiser must pay for that click that takes the person to their website. AdWords is a way to bring targeted traffic to your website, using the keywords you’ve created for your business.

What is Google AdSense?

AdSense is an advertising program that enables website owners to make money by displaying small, unobtrusive Google ads on their websites.  It’s free to join AdSense (though there are criteria for signing up that you must meet), which makes it a very affordable program for anyone. The ads are totally customizable, and you can place as few or as many ads on your website as you like. The ads are also targeted to be relevant to your website’s own content. You can even place a Google search box on your site, and generate revenue from your customers’ use of that as well.

How AdWords and AdSense Work Together

The AdWords ads are created and then published all over the web, on websites just like mine and yours, by utilizing Google’s AdSense program.  Website owners put the ads on their websites via AdSense, which helps drive the targeted traffic to your own website. With this PPC system, you as the advertiser only pay for the clicks that bring traffic to your site.  So it’s really a win-win-win situation for everyone: Google makes money off the ads and clicks; AdSense publishers (aka website owners who are displaying the ads) make money by displaying the ads that get clicked on; and you get lots more targeted traffic, which helps drive up your sales!

You may not be ready to dive into AdWords or AdSense at the moment, especially if your site is still new. But if you’d like to get more information on either program, just follow the links below.
